BALANCED LITTER SIZE

With Danish Genetics’ Breeding Update 2023, we state that: “We focus more on survivability, with a continued attention to litter size”.

In other words, we are making a conscious shift away from pushing for even larger litter sizes. Instead, our goal is to maintain a stable litter size, while focusing on the well-being and viability of the piglets; measured from birth to weaning. 

We elevate the quality and long-term success of our breeding program by lowering the importance of the fertility of our animal in our index calculations and improving the survival rate in farrowing units.
