The European Commission has approved a repeal request from the state of Brandenburg because no further cases of African swine fever (ASF) have been detected apart from the dead wild boar found on November 21, 2024.

In the district of Oberhavel, an outbreak of ASF was officially detected in a wild boar found dead in the municipality of Gransee on November 21, 2024. As a result, an infected zone of around 330 km2 was established.

The veterinary office of the district of Oberhavel immediately initiated all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease. No further infected wild boar carcasses were found.

The Commission has approved Brandenburg's application. The measures ordered can therefore be lifted and the electric fence around the affected area will be dismantled.
