The Botswana Vaccine Institute and Boehringer Ingelheim sign collaboration

The Government of the Republic of Botswana (GRB), through the Botswana Vaccine Institute (BVI), has signed a collaboration, license, and supply agreement with Boehringer Ingelheim, a global leader in animal health. This agreement strengthens a 45-year partnership focused on manufacturing Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) vaccines using Boehringer Ingelheim’s technology and materials, while carrying BVI trademarks.

The collaboration covers:

• Continuous technological improvements in vaccine production
• Scientific and epidemiological research
• Research & development for commercialization of new intellectual property
• Expanding collaboration to explore new business opportunities
