Stomach

The stomach has a great importance in the digestive process. The food is stored and digested in it, and after that the food will pass to the intestine, where it will be absorbed. In the internal wall of the stomach there are a kind of glands that produce acid and other substances that facilitate the digestion of the food. Also, this acidity inactivates the bacteria that we may ingest with the food, and it does not allow them to move to the intestine (it acts as a kind of "natural barrier"), reducing the probability of an infection. Pigs have a stomach similar to that of human beings.
