Mold

Molds are a kind of microorganism that do not normally cause too serious problems in pigs in a direct way. Nevertheless, their proliferation in compound feeds kept under poor conditions can give place to the production of a kind of toxic substances by the molds (mycotoxins) that are capable of causing a great variety of problems (they reduce the growth, they depress the response towards diseases, they cause reproductive problems in some sows, ...) in those animals that consume them.
