Splenomegaly found in a fattener in the slaughterhouse.
The main causes of splenomegaly are portal hypertension due to chronic liver disease, lymphomas, infections, congestion or inflammation, and splenic vein thrombosis.
The picture shows a normal spleen next to a pathological spleen, which exhibits a bigger size, a much darker colour and higher friability (i.e., little resistance to pressure.)
