Renal septicemia - Atlas of swine pathology

Where:
Possible causes: Erysipela
The kidneys are very pale with a dark red multifocal spotting distributed over the entire surface. These are petechial hemorrhages resulting from septicemia caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, the bacteria that causes the Erysipela disease.
A differential diagnosis must be made with diseases that cause multifocal hemorrhages such as septicemias from other bacterial agents, swine fevers, or infections from highly pathogenic strains of PRRS virus.
