Renal sclerosis - Atlas of swine pathology

Renal sclerosis

Where:

Possible causes: Other

The open kidney of a fattening pig appears whitish on most of the surface with irregular contours. This is a chronic process of fibrosis (sclerosis) as interstitial nephritis progresses, and is clinically associated with chronic renal failure.

A differentiation must be made between this lesion and other chronic or degenerative inflammatory processes.
