Rectal prolapse - Atlas of swine pathology

Rectal prolapse

Where:

Possible causes: Other

The lesion, spotted in a pig after slaughter, is an open, non-bleeding wound in the rectum, although a blood clot can be seen on the inside.

The live animal had a prolapse of the rectum and the tear was not recent, but probably caused some time before by rubbing with elements in the pen, bites from other animals or some other cause.
