Petechiae and hemorrhages in kidney - Atlas of swine pathology

Acute ASF clinical picture 10 days after experimental infection . Fever of up to 40, 5 ºC at 4 days post experimental infection. Animals showed lethargy and anorexia. Lesions at necropsy: Petechiae are disseminated throughout the cortex. Slight medullar haemorrhages are also visible.
Differential diagnosis should include CSF, different septicaemia (Erysipelas, Salmonellosis, Actinobacillus suis) PDNS, higly virulent PRRS, hemorrhagic diathesis, thrombocytopenic purpura and anticoagulant poisoning.
