The lesion found in the chest cavity of a pig after slaughter is a pericarditis with chronic fibrous pleurisy, ie, pericardial adhesions to the heart and pleura can be seen. Adhesions are very consistent and difficult to separate from the heart and the sternum area, suggesting the injuries are quite old. The cause of these injuries is usually pneumonia, most frequently caused by Haemophilus parasuis and / or Mycoplasma hyorhinis.
