The lesion is a haematoma occuring on the ear cartilage as a result of scratching or violent shaking, which are in turn due to intense ear itching, often caused by mites.
The image shows different stages of a otohaematoma: The first one shows an ear with bloody fluids in the space between the skin and the cartilage (1); the second one shows the same space filled with hard consistency fibrous tissue (2); and the third image shows the final retraction of skin and cartilage, leading to a deformed ear (3).
