Jaundice is caused by the accumulation of bilirubin, bile pigments or haemoglobin in the blood.
The carcass and all the organs of this slaughtered pig had an intense yellow hue.
No macroscopic lesions were found in liver, spleen, or any organ to shed light on the cause of this sign, so widespread jaundice suggests a systemic disease, of toxic or bacterial etiology, such as leptospirosis.
