Hoof laceration

Where:

Possible causes: Other

The lesion is a laceration in the distal portion of the forelimb in a nursery pig. The most likely cause is the poor condition of the slats of the premises, which caused a trauma in the hoof with haemorrhage and rupture of the hoof wall. Proper maintenance of the premises prevents this type of injury that cause suffering in the animals and that can be a gateway for more serious pathologies.
