Glässer’s disease (Haemophilus parasuis) was isolated from this lung with necrotising pneumonia in the diaphragmatic lobe and pleurisy.
It causes polyserositis, arthritis, meningitis and respiratory signs. It is found in the nasal cavity of many pigs. Any stress causes clinical signs from 8 – 12 weeks of age. Pyrexia, anorexia, depression, cough and dyspnea are the most likely clinical signs. This is followed by sudden deaths.
