The lesion, spotted in a nursery piglet, is a fibrinous pericarditis involving a large part of the cardiac surface.

The most likely cause is an infection caused by <i>Haemophilus parasuis</i>.

The animal's pre-necropsy symptoms are apathy, fever, and poor movement tolerance.
