Possible causes: Osteoporosis, ricketts, Vit D deficiencyOsteochondrosis

Any damage or deficit in either articular or epiphyseal cartilage potentially leads to lameness. In extreme cases, the head of the bone can separate through the growth plate causing epiphysiolysis, which presents as if there is a fracture, as seen in this case.
