The image shows some testicular tissue (arrow) in the upper right-hand side (bright yellow colouration), the ovary (star), and the uterine horn (1 and 4), at the bottom of the image, ending in a blind pouch. The epididymis can be seen next to testicular tissue and oviduct (2). The epididymal duct has been dissected (3). Hermaphroditism is a disease of genetic origin in which the sexual organs have characteristics of both sexes. This sow was part of a batch of gilts that were sent to the slaughterhouse due to reproductive problems.
