Poland: ASF in pigs and wild boar in 2024

Last year, 44 outbreaks of ASF were reported in pigs and 2,311 in wild boar.

There were 44 ASF outbreaks in pigs in 2024, in 7 of 16 provinces:

  • Lubelskie (2 outbreaks)
  • Warmińsko-Mazurskie (7 outbreaks)
  • Western Pomeranian (6 outbreaks)
  • Wielkopolskie (23 outbreaks)
  • Mazovian (1 outbreak)
  • Pomorskie (2 outbreaks)
  • Kujawsko-Pomorskie (3 outbreaks)

This is 14 more outbreaks compared to 2023. In 2023, ASF was found in the Lower Silesian province, but none in the Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian provinces.

In wild boar, 2,311 outbreaks were reported. Only 3 of the 16 provinces remained free of the disease: Łódzkie, Silesian, and Malopolskie.

The largest number of outbreaks in wild boars was found in Pomorskie (494), Wielkopolskie (387), and Zachodniopomorskie (352) provinces. A year earlier, there were slightly more outbreaks, at 2,686.
