BIRTH WEIGHT

At Danish Genetics, in addition to improve and develop our breeding work, we conduct a project of individual birth weight registration for all liveborn purebred Landrace and Yorkshire.

In everyday practice, the in-farm routine of handling newborn litters is complemented with modern equipment: trolleys with integrated weights pairing with our handheld scanners to connect identity and weight in our database.

All registrations are directly transferred to our database, and compiled with all the other data; so, we gain a comprehensive overview and are able make decisions for breeding the future generations.

By doing so, we breed for more robust pigs and higher piglet survival, which has a positive impact on:
