Research

Professor Paolo Trevisi studies management strategy, including feeding aimed at improving pigs' natural resistance to diseases, with particular attention to disorders affecting the gastrointestinal tract in the pre- and post-weaning period. Currently, his research focuses on the study of: i. Factors regulating chemical signals in the gastrointestinal tract, ii. Mechanisms involved in the maturation of the intestinal mucosa, iii. Mechanisms involved in the recovery of intestinal mucosal homeostasis after stressful events (weaning, fasting, etc.) or bacterial infections, iv. Interaction between nutritional requirements and the development of the enteric immune system, v. Dietary strategies aimed at reducing the period of transient anorexia and its effects during weaning (functional feed), vii. Effect of host-microbiota interaction on health and growth of young animals.

Author of more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, h-index = 21.
