Marcello graduated in Agriculture in 1980. For the first six years he worked for the MLC ( Meat and Livestock Commision) specialising in artificial insemination. Later he joined the breeding company NPD (National Pig Development Company) as a boar product manager. It was NPD that sent Marcello to Italy to run their company. When the breeding company PIC bought NPD, he covered various roles. First as Sales and Marketing Manager for Italy and later as European Male Genetic Manager. In 1999, Marcello joined the Italian integrated company, Martini Spa, where he was head of their Pig Division. Martini has some 30,000 sows in production, with the progeny finished as heavy pigs for Parma Ham. At the start of 2019, Marcello set up his own consultancy company and is currently working in several European countries as well as in Asia, South America, and South Africa. He has attended and spoken at many international conferences during his career.
