Batista & Asociados - Mexico AuthorDirector of Batista & Asociados since 1994, a one women practice specialized in swine production offering health and production integrated services to the Swine Industry in Canada, USA, Mexico, Central, South America and Europe. Today, this practice specializes in consulting on Area Regional Control on PRRS, PED, SIV and other important swine diseases, record analysis, swine disease diagnostics, biosecurity audits, integral swine system development, and farm personnel training and continuous education. Among others, Laura is also co-researcher of the PRRS Swine Cluster CDPQ-U Laval, Quebec, Canada, OIE’s Mexico representant for the PED ad hoc group, Advisor of PRRS and Emerging diseases for the Colombian, Peruvian and Dominican Republic Pork Producers,member of the AASV PRRS Task Force, and member of AMVEC Scientific Committee.
She has published more than 500 publications in reviewed and not reviewed journals, author of several swine book chapters, and a permanent speaker in swine meetings.
Some honors and distinctions: Lead Lecture: Practitioner’s Line, IPVS 2014, Cancun, Mexico (2014), Recognition by the Sonora Swine Producers for her contributions to the Sonora Swine Production (2014), Allen D. Leman Science in Practice Award for her contributions to swine health management and best practices in the industry (2009), AMVEC, Practitioner of the Year Award (1999).
